Features an organic Skønvirke, Arts and Crafts, design in chased silver and has a green chalcedony cabochon.
Chrysoprase is the rarest form of chalcedony, which is a green agate that has a translucency and is considered to be one of the most valuable types of quartz gemstones. The beautiful greens have a luminescence to them and can range from a pale mint to a rich jade.
This stylish silver pendant was made in Denmark and is typical of the naturalistic styles that were popular at the turn of the 20th Century and during 1940s. Danish artists were inspired by the British Arts and Crafts movement and the work of Charles Robert Ashbee who chased and moulded silver to create plant and organic styled jewellery. The silver also reflects a popular way of oxidising the metal with a sulphuric solution to create darker areas in the indents to give a sharp contrast and highlight the organic designs.
